Dragon’s Dogma 2 will be a “simulator of the fantasy world” with a big emphasis on physics

The Tokyo Game Show 2023 exhibition has become a real storehouse of information and video materials about Dragon’s Dogma 2, the long -awaited sequel of the role -playing game developed by Capcom.

In an interview with the Japanese Gamer site during TGS 2023, the director of the game Hideaki Itsuno and producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi talked about their goal – to create "The simulator of the fantastic world", in which more attention will be paid to physics. Players will have to be attentive when moving, since positioning will be of key importance for fighting.

Another direction in which we concentrated, reflecting the results of the survey is to make the world of the game more realistic. This applies not only to visual aspects, but also of those parts that can be felt in the gameplay. The sensation of movement differs when moving through a flat area and along the slope. On the slope, the attack from above is more profitable than an attack from below. If there is no difference in this, then you cannot cause people a feeling "I will do my best to create a profitable situation"

Thanks to the use of instruments such as physical calculations, even one slope matters in the gameplay. In the battle, the advantage has a hill. However, the rise to a height costs more than the movement in a flat area. When you throw something, it is more painful if you throw down. Running along the slope from top to bottom increases speed. All this is done in order to simulate a fantastic world. I hope you will not think that I’m trying to create "Game-Simulation of life in a fantastic world. In addition, as on all slopes, it is easy to lose balance here. Using this and attacking the legs can be effectively forced to fall. We include various elements so that the laws we encounter, living in this world, can be used in the fantastic world of Dragon’s Dogma 2

Announced to the 10th anniversary of the release of the original game, Dragon’s Dogma 2 is developed on the re-Engine engine for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S | X. The release date is not yet called, but the flow of information and the demonstration of the game on TGS hint at the relatively close launch, possibly in the first half of 2024.
